Well, this has certainly been ‘a year’ hasn’t it? I’m sure some of you have had outstanding fishing and some have probably not. I’d be one of those that ‘have not’ this year. Many of you may know why my particular situation has caused this – and some may not. It’s just one of those things, life got in the way. Hopefully next year I’ll be back on a much more regular basis and I’ll report what I see when I am back.
However, my fishing buddy, Harry, has been out fishing and this is to report HIS efforts and experiences.

Looks like Harry had a great day ‘weather-wise’ for an excursion! If I remember correctly he didn’t think it was overly cold that day.

Along the way he saw these – what do you think – wild grapes? I’m sure the birds may eat them, but I wonder if trout would?
He noticed plenty of these up where he fished(below)!

Looks like there’s PLENTY of wood in the stream now too. Should make the DCNR guys happy as I remember a presentation they made a few years ago stating that the runs could use more Large Woody Debris (LWD).

Disclaimer: I am NOT a trained wildlife or fisheries biologist.

But this is not what you’ve come to see, if you’re a fisherman – the following is!

This is the payoff when we go out in November and hope that the trout’s metabolism hasn’t slowed so much that they are somewhat interested in taking our offerings. Looks like Harry had a good day – great job Harry and thank you for taking some pictures of your excursion and sharing them with us all!
I’ve had the privilege to be able to get back to Slate Run a few times this year thanks to my wife egging me on. The place is closed up now and I’ll be back in March 2024 – at least that’s the plan. Till then I’ll look forward to fishing some small black stoneflies (in my mind) and hoping to see some Quill Gordon’s.
Until then, and NOT reporting from Slate Run but from some undisclosed bunker in Michigan, I’m UB – an ‘Unintentional’ blogger – (aka UB).

Thanks for leaving the comment Deen! Good to hear from you too! Our place is ‘buttoned-up’ for the season but I’ll be back in March. I hope you make it up there as often as you want this Winter. Anyway, this post (entry) came from Harry taking some pictures and me composing the text for the posting. I think it turned out ok. If anyone has pictures and would want me to write something up and post their pictures of an adventure in the area, I’m up for that sort of thing. The pictures have to be a pretty high resolution for them to turn out ok in a post though (after I scaled them down to be more acceptable for a website to display). Anyway, glad to hear from you and hope you have a nice holiday season! UB
