So the place is all cleaned up, I’m going through my ritual of turning the water off to ‘the cabin’ and checking that all is put away from the deck when – surprise! Look what I found!

To my surprise, and sitting pretty on the door window, was this young lady or gentleman! I’m sure it must of came off Pine Creek sometime recently.
I don’t know what it is yet except that it’s a mayfly that probably hatched within a day or two of this posting. If or when I discover what its name is I’ll pass it along – but right now its September Orange in my book (read on… I could of deleted this paragraph I suppose)!
And that time is right NOW apparently (the time to identify this new bug that is)! So let me just state: I AM the fly fisherman in the household! I just want to establish this fact since I’ve been tossing around a flyline since the late 80’s ok? I’ve accumulated a vast knowledge of flyfishing and all the tackle and bugs and such. Ok – you with me? So I get this picture (of the fly above) and write this blog post entry and am puzzled as to the identification of this mayfly in this post. I start to scan the web for identification of this fly when….. all of a sudden and seemingly out of a dark corner or crevice in the house emerges the other occupant of this abode. They state that if I just hit ‘this button’ or ‘that button’ on the picture on the ‘smarty-phone’ (aka the head-held computer) that the screen will display and reveal information about the photo displayed!
BAM! Stenacron Interpunctatum – a Light Cahill!!!! (heaving a big sigh…… right!) I think the world is passing me by folks! Or I’m running ‘full out’ and can’t even keep up – one or the other! The creature slithered back into the dark corner of the house (in other words she continued her conversation on her phone call).
I went back and compared this new fly to the ‘yeller’ fly I saw in May. At first I was going to say “They’re definitely different flies” – or are they? This fly (below, right) is much more orange than the one I saw in May. Perhaps a little more yellow in the wing also, maybe.

Either way I think they are both commonly called a Light Cahill. But I think one would want to try to tie a more ‘orangish’ fly for this September character and a lighter yellow for the May fly (no pun intended).
Just a quickie folks (that turned into a more substantial post thanks to a ‘smartie phone’). Planning on returning for the Applebutter Festival in Waterville scheduled for October 12th. Don’t know if this fly will still be there but I thought I’d pass along this observation.
Take care and till we see each other again, I’m UB – an unintentional Blogger!
Great photos.. Thanks..

Thank you so much Mr. Foresti! Just taken with my iPhone SE(15) then I usually edit them in a photo editor/drawing software called GIMP. So the photos are usually ‘tweaked’ a little (and resized so they aren’t huge file sizes – usually scaled down to 200KB – 500KB) and posted. Anyway, thanks for the compliment! UB
