Here And Now…

This will be a quick and short post!

Yes, as I expected the Green Drakes are OVER! And I missed out on them, however… we DID get fiber optic internet hooked up at our abode and all is well there.

I think it rained pretty good up the Pine Creek watershed as Pine is ‘chocolate brown’ and muddy as of 2pm, 5-30-2024. However, I went out and fished in the rain yesterday – before the waters rose! I haven’t fished in the rain in a long time but I saw some activity on the surface and the thunder had diminished so… I went out to fish along our little stretch.

During the rain…

Fish were actually active and rising to the surface. I was a bit surprised – but it was so… so out I went after I didn’t hear any more thunder.

It wasn’t ‘cookies and cream’ as far as the catching went, but I did manage a few fish. I fished a Slate Drake but there was this light yellow fly on the water that I wasn’t quite prepared for.

It might be a Cahill or not. If any of you have an opinion, please chime in and let me know your opinion!

I did manage to catch a couple of fish though.

I missed a decent fish as I was simply not paying attention and was late to the draw when striking needed to be spot on – I wasn’t! Oh well.

Slate Drakes are coming and if that is a Cahill, they’re here as well. The Green Drakes are gone and the water is muddy. So it’ll take several days to clear and come down I believe. I’ll have to go check on my spot and see if it’s ripping too.

Till next time, I’m UB, the Unintentional Blogger.

    • This isn’t the Sulphur that usually happens around here I don’t think. Sulphurs around here have dun wings without mottling. The Grey Foxes have more of a wing like this one. This looks more like a Grey Fox but both it and the Sulphur – its a little late in the season for it to be them I think. Maybe it’s a Grey Fox but I was wondering if Cahills looked a bit like this or not. Thanks for the comment Darrell! UB
